Our Favourite 5 Jewellery sets at the Oscars 2022

Sadly we weren't able to report live from the Oscars as we are set in little old Brooklyn Mall Pretoria. We rewatched the oscars over and over and came to personal conclusion on what stood out to us.

There will always be the stars wearing over-the-top showroom stoppers, the meek -and-mild and then our favourites in the middle section :the trend setters.

At Sunday's 94th Academy Awards, there were several blink-and-you'll-miss-it jewellery moments, from magnificent high-jewellery necklaces slipped beneath tuxedo jackets to rings that might not be recognized unless the wearer was also clutching an Oscar.

When stunning diamonds catch the light or flawlessly frame the face of a stunning actress, the added layer of opulence adds to the evening's ambiance. Gemstones reigned supreme on the Oscars red carpet, with magnificent emeralds worn by Vanessa Hudgens while covering the red carpet and vivid spinels in the earrings worn by Oscar winner Jessica Chastain.

From Timothée Chalamet's stacked necklaces to Daniel Kaluuya's fantastic Boucheron ring, the night's top looks show the continuous trend of actors embracing jewellery to a larger extent.

Take a peek at these 5 outfits that deserve a second look in Sunsonites opinion.

The Oscar winner for The Eyes of Tammy Faye donned Gucci from head to toe, including the Hortus Deliciarum collection's high-jewelry pieces (the term is Latin for "garden of delights"). These lion's head earrings are made of 18-karat white gold and include 13.32 carats of diamonds and pink, lilac, and light blue spinels.

The Oscar winner wore a chartreuse strapless minidress with extended train by Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera, which was one of the night's most eye-catching colors. She then paired the dress with a Chopard high-jewellery necklace constructed of 49.24 carats of emeralds and 62.15 carats of white diamonds, all set in 18-karat white gold, to play up the night's greatest color narrative. The ensemble was completed with emerald studs and a ring set with a 13.12-carat green tourmaline.

For the second year in a row, the Dune actress knows what works, and at the Oscars, it means Valentino and Bulgari. Bulgari's Serpenti collection, which includes a slew of coiled Serpenti diamond bracelets and a high-jewellery Serpenti necklace (shown above) with 218 step-cut diamonds totaling more than 13 carats set in 18-karat white gold, complemented Zendaya's modernized take on a Sharon Stone look from 1998.

With her Academy Awards style, the host of ABC's Oscars Red Carpet Show equaled many a nominee, starting with a sleek couture gown by Michael Kors. Hudgens upped the ante with some serious Bulgari emerald and diamond jewels, such as this high-jewellery necklace set in platinum with an 11.35-carat octagonal emerald surrounded by 170 buff-top emeralds totaling 12.28 carats, 88 fancy-shape diamonds totaling 9.16 carats, and 46 round brilliant and pavé-set diamonds totaling 15.35 carats.
